Episode 6: The Weight You Were Never Meant to Carry: Reclaiming the Self Beneath Resentment
Let’s be honest:
You’re tired.
Not just from the calendar.
You’re tired from carrying energy you were never meant to hold.
That low hum of bitterness you keep spiritualizing?
That sigh when no one offers to help?
That subtle edge in your voice?
That’s not a flaw.
That’s resentment.
And resentment, my love, is not about rage.
🌑 What Resentment Really Is
We’ve dressed it up as selflessness.
We’ve normalized it as “being nice.”
But what it really is?
Unspoken grief.
“Resentment is grief for every time you abandoned yourself to be liked, needed, or seen as good.”
It begins in survival:
“If I set this boundary, I’ll lose them.”
“If I stop over-giving, I won’t be loved.”
“If I say no, I’ll be punished.”
So you perform. You smile. You keep saying yes.
And inside, you start to disappear.
🔥 A Sacred Reframe
Let’s get radically clear:
Resentment is not a personality flaw—unless you turn it into one by holding onto it.
It’s a sacred messenger. A soul whisper. A red flag waving from your nervous system saying:
“You’ve abandoned yourself here.”
And when you stop judging it and start listening?
Resentment becomes a roadmap.
“It tells you where your yes is actually a no with glitter on it.”
✍️ Try This: Resentment Release Ritual
Grab a journal or scrap paper (yes, that old envelope will do) and write:
Who or what am I resenting right now?
Where in my body do I feel this weight?
What have I not allowed myself to say?
Then read it out loud. No censoring. No spiritual fluff. Just truth.
Now speak this over your body:
“I release the weight that was never mine to carry.”
“I forgive myself for staying silent.”
“I reclaim my energy. It belongs to me now.”
Tear it up. Burn it. Bless it. Let it go.
📖 A Personal Moment of Rage + Reclamation
There was a time I said yes when I meant no. Smiled while screaming inside.
Until one day I read Byron Katie’s reminder:
“There are three businesses in the world—yours, theirs, and God’s. And you can’t live in someone else’s and your own at the same time.”
That cracked me open. I stopped explaining myself.
I stopped over-giving.
I stopped making my pain palatable.
And I found her again—me.
🧭 Your Invitation This Week
Ask yourself:
Where have I been quietly resenting others… because I keep abandoning myself?
Then breathe.
Tell the truth.
And set something down.
You don’t need to carry it anymore.
I see the Light in you, and it is brilliant. I want you to see it too!
Brightest of blessings,
Dawn xo
